Happy 2021 everyone! I've started out this new year by trying out a gorgeous paint set from Artistro. In no way is this sponsored. Of course I loved the outside colour and the fact that so far all my Artistro cry paint pens have worked beautifully. So I thought for $29.99 Canadian on Amazon.ca, why not try it. So here is a longer video talking about the paint set and the surprise contents! Then the rest is just me swatching out the colours and talking about watercolour painting and art related topics. A bit of a vlog if you will.
Using acrylic paint pens on stretched canvas. As well, I do use the various affordable acrylic paint pens, giving a bit of a review. I am not fully done, but wanted to show you what it is like.
Hi guys! How are you all doing during this most abnormal season? I am guessing for many of you, making more art or trying various art making techniques for the first time is something you have been
doing lately. Considering the world has been under siege by an unknown virus, unable to carry out life as usual- makes sense that we'd all be trying new things whilst locked down. Well acrylic paint pens have been a new tool in my art making supply stash. Are you like me, hooked on art supply collecting? It is even worse since shopping online with Amazon, is way to easy.
Might as well make the most of it and create. How will we know if we like a certain art supply if we don't try it. If you've been around here you will know that Acrylic paint pens are my new supply to try and use. Wanting to see online reviews of affordable paint pens has been difficult, so I decided to try an array of pens so I can create a bunch of video reviews on each brand so others may benefit from them. Posca pens seem to be the only paint pens used over and over on YouTube, Well click here to see my only (so far) Posca experience.
Below is part one of my first part of a generalized review video covering five brands of Acrylic paint pens. In this video I tried the four out on a rock since these pens all say they work on all surfaces like rock, glass, plastic, fabric, basically anything non-porous. I use them on paper and card stock more than anything. I love them.

Hi guys! Happy, almost Spring time! Recently, I just purchased a few brands of acrylic paint markers from Amazon Canada. For decades I painted using acrylic paint from the tube. Stevenson was my choice brand. If you are new here, I am a visual artist who loves sharing all things creative and encouraging folks of all ages to create. In the past few years I have been focused mostly on creating with polymer clay, in 3-D. Due to my weak hands, the clay has been a challenge. That means I have to branch out or should I say, return to my original art making method, drawing and painting. Years ago I tried the Sharpie brand of oil paint pens. When they worked, they were great. But, they clogged or dried up too easily. That is the extra fine tips. So I gave up. Working on an easel on canvas with a palette and paint from tubes and jars is not a method I can return to. So to at least come close, I thought I would try the acrylic paint pens.
Which Ones To Use?
Well, there are so many brands on Amazon, I can't say. So I thought I would share what I discover here incase anyone else is interested in my discoveries. So far I am loving these great drawing instruments. Watch below to see my first review/discussion about the AROIC brand (click here to see them on Amazon). Thanks for stopping by. Happy Creating!
Soon I will be reviewing a different brand.
Always learning. All part of life as an artist. It means a lot to me to share the lessons I learn with anyone who wants to listen. Perhaps you won't have to waste supplies like I have. As well. I would love to hear about your experiences and lessons too. We can all learn from each other. This is a short video...Watch Below
Over the course of my artistic career, I made the water spray bottle my number one tool to keep my palette wet and juicy. Otherwise the acrylics would for that plastic skin, eventually drying out completely rendering the useless! As mentioned in the palette talk
The biggest problem with Acrylic paints and oils are their inability to be reactivated once dry or video previously, I tried a wet palette that is sealable but found it too big, The idea we saw at this great channel, offered the great idea to make your own wet palette. Please check his videos out here at CLIVE5ART. Personally, we both prefer the method mentioned in the Palette Talk video.
But it would be great if we could find a palette that can be sealed. Craig and I would use a ziploc bag around a makeshift palette, like a disposable plastic or styrofoam plate. Even though we ziploc it, there is always a risk that the paint will dry out. As you will soon see, wasting precious, expensive artist paint is one of my biggest fear as an artist. We have a special story coming soon on that topic! Watch Our Sealable EBay Palette Test and Review Below
When I was shopping on Ebay.ca (I live in Canada). I was surprised to discover a sealable paint palette. So I thought I bet this would work for Craig when he uses the acrylics. Here is the link in Ebay to find it.
We received it after about 3 weeks. That is pretty good from China to Canada, Shipping was free, the cost about 17 dollars Canadian. I see today it's 15 dollars. Go figure. The first test would be to put paint in it and see if it truly does seal. You will have to watch the video to see what we discovered. One warning, ALWAYS read the size details before ordering online!
If you want to help out feel free to check out these links and share em! Love you all. Anita
