HeArtfully Creating:Polymer Clay Journey - My First Gemstone Ring

Happy summer guys! Have you been creating in some form or other? Hope so.

It has been a fun artistic summer so far for me. Between creating one of a kind figurines,(see here) I have been experimenting with polymer clay and gemstone pendants (coming soon) and yesterday, a new gemstone ring idea.

This ring was totally whimsical, no pre-planning at all. Never been good at pre-planning. Because I love taking photos of what I make, I have a video below that features all angles of this pretty fantasy ring. I call it a fantasy ring or even cosplay because it has that look to it, some swirls and sparkle and a large glowing gemstone in the center! The ring itself, was formed around a metal cannoli cylinder. You can use any cylinder in the size you want, just wrap it in wax paper first and tape or it will be tricky to remove. For the base, I used white Premo and translucent clay and an aqua chalcedony onion briolette gemstone with facets (about 12mm across).

To be sure it was secure, I pushed the pointy part into the clay and surrounded it with a clay bezel and some embellishments. Unfortunately, I ended up losing half the stone in the clay. Chalcedony is an amazing stone that glows when light is near. You don't need a stone to make a ring, or you can make a faux stone out of clay or even a resin gemstone (that must be oven safe.) Then before curing in the oven for 1.25 hours at 275F, I coated the clay with a beautiful shimmering, metallic chrome nail art powder. I assume the born pretty nail art powders are mica, but am not a hundred percent sure. Hope you are inspired even a little to try creating a polymer clay ring.

Polymer Clay Journey: Studio Talk: Bridal Bling

Hi guys! Decided that I had to share a short video about my recent project for a couple dear young brides to be. I have created beaded and friendly plastic hair accessories over the years, but so far have not made polymer clay hair accessories.

Below is a short video that features photos of my recent designs as well as some information you may find helpful. One lesson learned was about the "no-name" Hot fix glass crystals I bought from China on Ebay.ca. The above piece was decorated with Martha Stewart's white glitter and Pearl Ex micro Pearl mica powder.

Polymer Clay Journey: Making Personalized Gifts- Figurines Tutorial. Video- Meet Jesse and Justin

Yes, I recently posted a compilation of the clay figurines I have created for gifts over the past couple of years. Strange thing is I thought I had videos of the beginning to end process on YouTube, but nope. So off to work I went and voila, here is a video intended to teach, encourage and inspire others to get out the polymer clay, tools, armature, powders, tape, tin foil and baking supplies and get sculpting your own personalized gift. My two male figures are about 8 inches tall. I don't have the patience for miniature scale.

Newest Pebeo Fantasy Paint and Resin Domed Pendant Necklaces!!

Side Note: I just realized that I accidentally posted this blog on my creativity blog, HeArtfully Creating instead of A Bergie Creation. My brain must be full :o)

Hi guys. I have been working furiously trying to photograph, edit and publish my newest handmade pendant necklaces. As you will discover, I have been having a blast discovering Pebeo brand Fantasy Moon and Prism Paints, as well as doming pendants in epoxy resin. Not to mention, new polymer clay pieces are coming as soon as I get the finishing touches complete!

As always, I create my pieces, and then depending on the medium, they often need sanding, polishing and buffing or resin added, whatever the case may be. Then, just as I am with words, photo time happens. On Etsy you only have room for five photos to showcase your pieces. Well, I ALWAYS take triple or more that number, sometimes fifty shots for one piece. It is so important to me, to capture every nuance, angle, hue, and part of my jewelry pieces so customers can know what they are looking at.

Buying online requires trust that the shop is providing you with as many details as possible. On that note, please always read the description details and policies and procedures before making a purchase on any online shop. It helps to avoid disappointment. Countless times, I don't read, and think say a bead will be a lot bigger because of the photo alone, once I get them, oops, turns out they were only 3mm across. All the information was there, but I foolishly disregarded it. It is easy to be caught up in the appearance and lose sight of the details.

Spring Means Flowers...

Hi guys. I just wanted to say that I would never have been able to learn about polymer clay, how to use it and received the inspiration to create with it, without the many great YouTube tutorials by a lot of learned Polymer clay artists. Below, I am going to list the ones I can remember, I know there are so many, I can't remember them all. If you are wanting to know about polymer clay, I will teach you what I have learned in under six months, but I strongly suggest viewing the videos that these artists have made just for people like us!
