Art Vlog - Paint And Yap! Uncut And Raw, Craig Begins A New Painting And Railway Is Complete!!
Happy 2021 everyone. Hope and pray everyone is well and enjoying amazing weather if you live near us. Warm winters are something I love. However rare they may be.
Craig finally completed his railway painting and gave it to a dear friend. You can see the completed work on the video below!
So he has begun a new landscape scene in acrylic. I was experimenting with his iPhone to see how long it could record a steady stream and it worked well. Told him to regale viewers with his stories/life experiences while he worked.

POLYMER CLAY SHARE: Stephanie Kilgast of PetitPlat
This polymer clay artist will make your jaw drop! Meet Stephanie Kilgast, she lives across the ocean from us in Canada! She is best known for her miniature food replica work. Here is an interview link of her on the Food Network! There may be a lot of miniature clay artists out here in web world, but Stephanie of PetitPlat, stands out to me. Not only does she branch to into other areas (as you cans in her videos below), I enjoy hearing what she has to say while she creates her videos. Her colours are vibrant, she strives for realism, and at times she exercises whimsical creativity! Check out her funky Elephant Hybrid! Enjoy her work and her artistic wisdom!

SNEAK PEEK!....EVERYTHING, PEBEO FANTASY PAINTS!
The number one medium I used for most of my artistic career has been Acrylic paint on canvas. In the last eight years, my focus changed to jewelry making and design using beads, wire and such. And the lasT year and a half, my new favourite medium of course is, polymer clay. Which means, I haven't worked on very many two dimensional works of art since eight years ago. There are a few exceptions though. What are they you ask? I discovered a really cool oil based paint called "Pebeo Fantasy Paints." Not only can you use them on polymer clay pieces to create really beautiful special effects, you can use them on glass, wood, metal and epoxy resin and, I am sure more surfaces than that! I used Pebeo's glass paint "Vitral," to re-furbish an old pair of metal framed glasses!
When you drop in the paints with a tooth pick or eye dropper pipette type device, the paints have a special formula that causes them to actually move and transform into really cool designs. It reminds me of molecular or chemistry images. The Moon paints contain Mica powder for the shimmer, metallic look and it is the Prisme (Prism) paints that create a honeycomb look!
You don't use a paint brush on these paints in order to get the proper effect. Stirring the paints prior to use is critical in order to maximize the effects they offer. Other wise ingredients like mica will just sit on the bottom. I used disposable pipettes as you can see in my photos to keep it as neat as possible. Toothpicks or skewers work well also to stir and to use as a dripping mechanism.
Because they are oil based, it does take a long time for them to dry. Soap and water clean up is not possible. I love what they paints do. Glad I bought them and tried them on a variety of surfaces. Just see below to find out what I did.

As well, using their tubes of acrylic based imitation "leading" or outlining paint, I had great fun drawing abstract designs and then dropping in the fantasy paints. Oh, and I also delved into epoxy resin. Made some pendant bases and again, dropped in Pebeo paints to create some gorgeous molecular effects.

Pebeo On Resin
I was having great fun, learning how to make epoxy resin pieces. Some more on that adventure in the future. Once the resin cured after 24 hours, I was able to drip on the Pebeo Fantasy Paints to create some incredibly beautiful pendants.

CREATURE WORLD: Introducing Luke's Newest Polymer Clay Stop Animation Series

Becoming friends with his mom, I was excited to have her older children to come on over and draw. So,"Jonny" has been creating with me for about eight years now. When he first would come over, he and his siblings would come and make art using two dimensional materials. They were all very creative.
My plan is to create a more detailed video feature with more detailed photos and video of his polymer clay critters/creatures, in the near future.
But for now, take a peek at Luke's (a.k.a. Jonathan Artman's) first stop motion animation film. He has been working hard for a long time on all his background scenes, planning the story line, designing and creating the characters on paper and in polymer clay and then filming and editing...EVERY PART you are about to see was designed and created by him.

Purposeful or Functional Art: Personalized Greeting "Cards"- Part 2

Print Anywhere!?
What is great about digitalizing your work by drawing digital or scanning your work into a jpeg file, you can email your personalized, original art work to the recipients. And they can do what they want with it including making it wallpaper on their computer, print it out in whatever size it can be. If you go to printing web sites you will see original images on t-shirts, mugs, posters, calendars, pins, pretty much anything you can print on. That is something you might want to consider if you want to make gift that way.

When you create heArtfully, you are enjoying, even loving what you are doing and that means it won't feel like a chore. As well people care if you take time to create something personalized just for them. So if you don't already make your own cards and gifts, I encourage you to.

Purposeful or Functional Art: Personalized Greeting Cards- Part 1
We can make art to hang on your wall or display like a sculpture but some of us like to use our art making ability to create what I call "practical art" or functional art. Meaning art that can be used for something, purposeful...useable art.
Since I have been focusing on working in polymer clay these days, examples of purposeful polymer clay art could be.... candle holders, decorate a vase, provide a grip for tools like crochet hooks, polymer clay tools, decorate and glass, metal or wooden surface that holds balms, solid perfumes, do-dads and the like.
And then two dimensionally speaking, to me, practical or purposeful art could be anything that is created to be used for something more than looking at in an Art gallery or on your walls. Examples I have used my 2D art have been for uses like illustrating story books to help tell stories or to teach someone how to do something like the tutorials I drew on the left. As well, in order to waterproof my husband's wheelchair tote bag, so I painted a landscape across the bottom, check it out below.
And then there are the times when I have decorated useful items like picture frames and personalizing a jewelry box! The possibilities have been endless...drawings for advertisements to be used in print media like a newspaper, church bulletins, logo design, drawing images for posters and other advertising methods and all that fun stuff
Let's Get Personal

Sure anyone can buy a card from Hallmark, but when you create your own special occasion or just because card to celebrate someone, there will never be another one like it anywhere! I do confess that my motive over the decades, besides having fun, has also been to save money. Have you seen the price of those store bought cards?!

There are a bazillion tutorials out here in web world about card making. There are many who like to work in scrapbooking mode, i.e.: stamping and inks, paper cutouts, glitters, embossing powders, stickers and such. All fun but for me, I want to share the Old fashioned" way my personalized cards were made, using card stock, pencils and markers, along with glitter glue!
This is called part one because paper and markers were the original way many of us made cards and many still prefer that way.
So check out samples of a few of countless personalized and generic hand drawn cards that I once did with great joy!
