I just created the video below for my Etsy shop blog. It is about what I have been creating lately. Since what I create and trying to sell those creations intermingles so tightly with Heartfully Creating, I am sharing this on both blog sites. It's meant to reach as many people as possible! -------------------- A Few Ramblings About Creating...
It has been a busy few months artistically speaking. It seems that once I find a technique or process I like, I want to make some in every colour. It is much different than when I was working only in two dimensions. A canvas in front of me and a palette of brightly pigmented paints, crying out to be smooshed, combined, and swiped into what would become a beautiful work of art. Well, hopefully it would.
My paintings were usually at least 16" x 20" inches or more and could take days and days to weeks and weeks. It all depended on what it was, how I wanted it to look and if it was turning out how I wanted. Some artists like to meticulously plan out their masterpiece, methodically, critically and succinctly. Not me, I try to but it just doesn't happen. A speck of an idea may spontaneously plunk into my mind, fuelling what would become my next artistic creation. But planning and agonizing over how it will be played out just doesn't feel natural. In three dimensional land, sculpting in polymer clay, making jewellery, needle felting, and such can be done in the same manner.

However, I am trying to bank ideas into what Christi Friesen once recommended for me to do, write down my ideas into a notebook, keeping them in an idea "savings" account. great lady! You might want to try it. In fact, I even made a handmade note book using index cards, a hole punch and some heavy wire. As for the discipline of banking my ideas, still too impulsive and I forget to look at my bank. That's my fault. Not giving up. It really could work if I followed it through. It doesn't help that I stink at actual banking, spending what I don't have - impulsively!

Hi guys! Hope you are all HeArtfully Creating! I am looking forward to spring, how about you? If you have been here before, you may know how much I love making tube beads with polymer clay. In fact, I got so hooked on them, I compiled quite a collection that kept me busy creating the beads instead of turning them into actual pieces of jewellery. These days, I have obsessed with making window clingies. Does that happen to you? Do you discover new art making techniques or supplies and then that is all you can focus on until your next artistic discovery? That even happens to me with food choices as well. Eating a certain dish over and over until I can't look at it again! Keeps life interesting (Guess it depends on your perspective.) them in a handmade piece of wearable art or something like that. Unless you create your beads or pendants and use them as you make them. There are artists out there who don't want to accumulate pieces. Whereas some are like me, build up my collection so I then can get reating jewellery. Question for you today is? Naming my jewellery pieces is part of the joy of creating. Remember all of those previous polymer clay tube beads I was creating? Here is one link to see. I was getting hooked on making them. All those textures and powders, what fun. Well, finally I have made a couple more necklaces that are in my Etsy Shop, A Bergie Creation. The blue one is called "Induction," and the Pink one "Cerendipity."Cool huh! The Sari ribbon and handmade wire beads enhance these really great clay beads.
When you are creating jewellery pieces, experiment with what materials work together!

basically the only time of year when I find it warm enough to go outside. It doesn't really matter to me anyway because I am always creating in my studio. I tried working outside before and the winds, dust and all that fun stuff, interferes with my art making too much. Polymer clay especially picks up dust and dirt really easy. Keeping It Clean If you are working in polymer clay you may already know this, if not, now you will! Something I have learned over time, especially from the many great online polyclay artists. If you want your clay pieces to be professional enough to sell or just because you want them to look their best, you must keep the clay clean. This means.... 1. Make sure your work area, hands and surface as well as tools are all wiped super clean. I use rubbing alcohol or baby wipes. Be cautious because some wipes have fibres that can come off and end up on any of these items. 2. Work in a pet free zone. Animal hair can float anywhere including right onto your clay working area. Unless you want to incorporate it, try to keep your area a pet free zone. If not, make sure you wipe it all down prior to working. 3. After your piece is assembled, you can clean off your unbaked clay with a cotton swab or clean cotton/soft cloth and rubbing alcohol prior to baking/firing in the oven. 4. If you baked the piece and missed a speck of dirt (this can be particularly annoying with white clay!), I have learned that you can use nail polish remover. I have never tried it. If you do, let me know how it went. It isn't something I want to depend on so I try to keep everything clean before baking. Hope that helps a little. Keep it Clean! A while back, I was having fun creating texture sheets and stamps for my polymer clay designs out of polymer clay. They work really well. It does take trial and error, because some designs can be to uneven to imprint your clay well. As well, you want to try different depths. You can essentially "carve" into a thick sheet or piece of clay to you can "add" to a sheet of clay. It's been a fast paced spring so far trying to complete polymer clay designs for my online Etsy Shop. That's why sharing links with your friends and family, always helps out artists like me! Nudge, nudge, wink, wink, Hint, hint ;o)
Since HeArtfully Creating is about creating and encouraging minds of all ages to create, I thought it made sense to share what I've been working on for weeks now. If you follow this blog, you know I have a shop online with Etsy called, A Bergie Creation. As most fashion accessories do, there are seasonal pieces. Well, I am a visual artist and not a merchandise expert, but I do want to offer new jewelry pieces in my shop each season and between. One thing I have been learning is that, it takes so much time for me to create my pieces from beginning to end, that I am not getting them completed in time. Of course that is just in my mind. So I have accepted that fact and am steadily working on my designs, finishing them up and then designing pieces of wearable art with them! And once they are complete, then to offer the best photos possible for potential customers to see, I literally take hundreds of photos, then edit the best ones and format them for my shop. As well, marketing your shop is important, hence blogs and social media.
Since the process is part of the fun, I thought I would try to post more Studio Life, In Process photos and blog articles. So below are some more puffy heart pendants and charms or dangles that I have been working on this week. And here is the link to my A Bergie Creation, shop blog.
