Learn With Me. Galaxy Table Final Phase. Epoxy Resin Done Wrong But Looks Great

Ever get bored with how a piece f furniture looks? In 2019, As always, on a whim I decided that adding colour would be a great way to beautify our kitchen table. Using Pigment powders I had been collecting from Ebay (free shipping from China) that are intended for nail art techniques, My husband teased me as the shipments seemed to arrive even day. Bags from China, containing teeny packets of mostly Born Pretty nail art pigments and glitters. I lost track of how many jars I ended up using. My favourite are the
chameleon colour changing pigments, holographic glitters, foil flakes and countless other kinds of powders and shimmers, combined with polyurethane as the mixing medium, the galactic journey began. To see parts of the journey/process, please click here , and click here to see how it began.

I thought I was done, but couldn't resist as I played around with more chameleon powders, Holo Glitters, And colour shifting pigments and a new can of Polycrylic Polyurethane. Thank you for stopping by!

Craig Prepares For A New Painting. Sharing Childhood Memories

Hello everyone. Here it is the beginning of summer and the weather has definitely been up and down drastically. For a couple days this past week it was about 40°C and then the next day it was about 18°C! Kind of crazy just like everything else in the world these days. That's why I'm making art and creativity isn't just fun and a way to express yourself, or a practical way to make gifts and things for others, it's a great way to divert our attention away from things that we might not want to think about for a while. I am all for knowing what's going on in the world and watching the news. Some thing I definitely did not do the first 25 years of my life. Ever since, I definitely like researching and listening to what's going on. However, I do admit these days with pandemics and other craziness, it is nice to have another place to go and focus on instead of the bombardment that seems to happen when you watch too much news.

On that note I want to ask if everyone's been creating and if so what have you been creating? Are you enjoying it? I often create for practical reasons. For instance it's somebody's birthday and I am too cheap to buy birthday cards so I make one. But actually handmade cards are far better because they're personalized and made by you. And I don't like the boring all the gray garbage can, so I decorate it with paint. Along with the kitchen table, planters outside, our mailbox… You get the idea,

Due to Health/energy  issues, I haven't been able to be as productive as I used to be as an artist. But as long as I can create in some form or other when I am able to, it makes me happy. I don't know about you, but if I don't create in some form or other for too long, something just doesn't feel right. It's in the DNA I think. Makes sense since God created us in His image and he is the creator.

Watch And Listen Below

My husband discovered it's in his DNA to over 30 years ago after being forced to retire due to the onset of a physical disability, exacerbated by work accidents. His cousin's wife is a great artist and she encouraged him to paint with watercolor. So he did and loved it. We got married almost 20 years ago and he started trying my acrylic paint leftovers, and hasn't looked back. Watercolours are beautiful, but acrylics are good for those of us who make a lot of mistakes because you can paint over them. I tried watercolours as well, and found it too much pressure to follow the rules. Which then would result in Muddy look paintings because I just didn't have the discipline to do it right. That doesn't mean don't try it. You could love it. It is an awesome medium.

On that note, I am posting Craig's newest concept drawing for his next painting. I really like it when he does stuff that he has fond memories of. With that comes a lot of cool stories from his childhood. Lord willing, I am planning on documenting the process for this painting. So enjoy. And happy creating.

Got to have some fun opening my first Art Snacks subscription box! Then I'll demonstrate a little bit with some of the items, (not sponsored) and I ended up giving a wee bit of a lesson on how one hb pencil can give you the lightest greys to the blackest blacks.

Learn With Me Mixed Media -Alcohol Inks, Glitter, UV Resin And Such.

Hi guys! I was able to create another video regarding working with mixed media. It's a very long process so I didn't want to bore anyone by filming every step of the way. So this video is a bit more of a learn with me/tutorial as I ramble on about whatever pops into my head. Tried to edit some of that out, didn't think anyone would really want to hear too much about Star Trek versus Star Wars!

The materials that are used for this piece so far. That's right I am still tweaking it so it can't be considered done. In fact I've got some still shots then I'll be posting soon to see you what I've done since this video was made. It's just so much fun adding layers of textures and resin  and color.

Brighten Up The Neighbourhood - Mail Box Art: DIY and Learn With Me Using Acrylic Paint!

Our really old home made mail box was looking sad and tired. Along the theme of Brightening Up Our Neighbourhood with colourful art, take a watch at my new video sharing how I transformed our 17 year old mailbox. Originally my husband Craig and my mom had made the box part and I painted it to look like our house (sort of.) Unfortunately it got weathered and the paint split. Craig sanded it down first (just a bit.) So kick back and watch the transformation. Hope you are inspired to make your own mailbox!

Using Paint Pens: Drawing Fun And Art Talk

Happy October everyone! Hope wherever you are in the world that you are enjoying the creative part of life. In whatever way shape or form, there are many ways to create. In today's newest short video, join me as I do a bit of art talk. Sharing what my life experience has taught me so far when it comes to encouraging creativity in children. Nothing makes me cringe more than when a parent or guardian says to a child regarding their masterpiece about how a sky isn't purple or a tree isn't blue. Want to find out more just watch my new video below!
